beating out nearly 7000 other submissions with his fresh approach to roots music.<\/p>\n<p>The project of Oakland, California musician Xavier Dphrepaulezz, Fantastic Negrito has had a massive year since its Tiny Desk win \u2014 opening for <a href=\"http:\/\/store.acousticguitar.com\/collections\/back-issues\/products\/no-275-november-2015\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chris Cornell<\/a> on his European and upcoming North American <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fantasticnegrito.com\/tour\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tour<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/OAAzC5OaoNw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">guest-starring<\/a> on Fox&#8217;s hit show <em>Empire<\/em>, and writing a full-length album, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fantasticnegrito.com\/products\/735123-the-last-days-of-oakland-vinyl-cd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Last Days Of Oakland<\/em><\/a>, which comes out June 3 on his label Blackball Universe.<\/p>\n<p>Playing his <a href=\"https:\/\/acousticguitar.com\/epiphone-masterbilt-aj-45me\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Epiphone Masterbilt AJ-45ME<\/a>, watch Dphrepaulezz perform three songs off his new album, &#8220;Rant Rushmore,&#8221;
